  1. Woohoo! Thanks for hosting, Deb!

I'm going to give my historical one more look before I send it on to my agent and hope and pray she thinks it is ready.

Then I want to get a good start on my current WIP. I'm not sure I can give myself word or chapter goals yet. Too much is still a blur in my head.

I would also like to start getting my website together. Not sure which host I'm going to use, though.

Onward and upward...right? Rock on, Wipsters!

  2. Thanks for hosting this month!!!

I'm in a transitional state in May - my WIP will be with betas and other than writing a synopsis for it, it's gonna be on the shelf until I have all my notes back.

    So, uh....

Something new it seems! I'm just not sure what yet. I'm going to dig around a few half-started MSS this week and see what calls out to me.

Good luck to everyone this month!

  3. Thanks for hosting, Deb. I'm looking forward to the rendezvous with fellow wipsters and seeing what everyone has planned for May. I should be gearing up... new resolve for a new month, and all that sort of thing. But I really want to slow down and savour May. It's the first hint of a summer that *always* slips by too quickly. I don't want to get to September and wonder where it went.

So I'm thinking the only writing goal I'll set for May is to work on my w.i.p. every day. No specific word count. I still have the church historical project on the go and I need to balance my time better. Last month it preoccupied me to the exclusion of my own writing. Now it's time to pick up some of the abandoned pieces and get back to work.

    Happy writing, everyone!

    1. You know....you have me thinking on slowing it down, too. Those crocuses will only be around for a wee while longer...enjoy them while here. And take time to listen to the birds as they sing spring in, search for places to build new homes. Yep, some good advice to take it all in.

  4. Joining the chorus of thanks for hosting! I'm still reeling a bit from finishing my last MS. I've sent it out to the betas, tidied up my query, penned my synopsis and now all I have to do is wait for their comments. In the meantime, I've started a new, very different project but it's difficult switching gears sometimes.

Anyway, best of luck to everyone with their goals this May!

  5. Hey Deb and gracias for hosting! I sort of social-media disappeared in April, but hope to do better in May. My one and only writing goal for May is KEEP DRAFTING - paragraph after paragraph, line after line. Keeping it simple. =) Hope everyone in #wipmadness land is doing well!

    1. Welcome on the hosting! Go go GO with that drafting...keep it simple is a good thing and hope to see you about in social media land, lol.

  6. Last month one of my big goals was significant wordage on a new MG project. However, I struggled with that, not managing to find the voice and so not really making much progress at all. But...last week I found my groove! Woohoo! It's not what I expected for this ms, but maybe it's right. And if it's not, I'll worry about that during revisions, lol. So, May's goal...work on this MG project!! So excited to finally be moving forward on this one. :)

Happy writing/revising, WIPsters! And thanks for hosting, Deb!

    1. YES on finding that grove! Voice really does drive a story, especially when writing it out the first time...I find that I have to have it or the going is sloooow.

      Happy writing back atcha~!

  7. It's a new month? How did that happen? I got some revision done last week, but am still struggling to get into a writing routine. Call me Monkey Mind. It dawned on me over the weekend that my first book is releasing in July. THAT'S ONLY TWO MONTHS AWAY! I think I'm supposed to be thinking about that. Sheesh!

Thanks for hosting, Deb. Hope all you WIPsters are more productive than I am right now. So happy to have you in my life to remind me that I'm still a writer!

    1. LOL on the new month sneaking up on us. It is like a down hill run to December.

Gads Monkey Mind--your release date is coming up fast, you writer you. So excited for you!

And yes, a writer you is.

  8. Oh man, oh man, I feel like it's been a long time. It has! I found myself eyeballing the check-in tweets as if they might bite me. Wanting to commit, but scared to. And then I thought, What in the world am I doing? Just like you said, Deb, wipsters are here for the ups and the downs. Time to remember I'm part of a community.

For the last two weeks, I've been working on a rethinking (as opposed to a revision). This month, I'd like to revise three more chapters.

Thank you all! Good luck to everyone, and hugs and kisses!

    1. Man Lora...I know exactly what you mean on the check-ins, lol. But yes, commit away and if it doesn't happen we are here to talk it out, commiserate...eat chocolate, drink wine (or tea), heh heh.

Good luck with the rethinking and go go GO on those chapters!

  9. Thanks for hosting, Deb! I'm in the middle of a tedious revision that, frankly, I don't like spending any more time thinking about than I have to.

Hope to report in that its done by the end of May, but that may be a feat of the miraculous. Some possible good news is in the works though, so that is keeping my spirits up.

  10. Hello, everyone!

Thanks for doing double-duty, Deb. Lotsa Ds there. hehe

It seems my tech glitches with the iPad have extended to blog comments. I'll be quick in case this goes poof somehow.

    1) #middlegrademay Reading Challenge courtesy of the lovely Deb is going well-ish. Got busier than I thought these past few days but aim to finish at least three books this month.

    2) 100 Pages in 7 Days Challenge. As of today, I only have 55/100 pages, so I doubt I'll complete the challenge, but any writing is a good thing. Besides, I'm continuing with my fairytale mashup beyond the first seven days, regardless. Any bit helps.

    3) The blog is doing well. Two lovely surprises: Sunday I got a Liebster Award and this morning an Inspirational Blog Award. I'm quite flattered considering my blog is still an infant among giants. Such a nice way to start the week. Great motivator, that.

Hope everyone's May is going well. We have some lovely weather in the Vancouver area this week. The Keysmashing Tots love to go adventuring, but I'll be mindful of the #wipmadness that continues. :)

    Cheers,

    Tonette

  11. Hey, Deb! Thanks so much for hosting for May. :) You sound like you'll have a busy month. Best of luck to ya!

I finished up my PB revisions for my agent and emailed them late last week. Still waiting to hear back from her. So I may have more to do during the month of May. We'll see.

I'm in the early stages of an new story. Not sure where it's going yet, but know from the subject and character it'll definitely be YA and quite possibly (if I can swing it), horror. There's a definite creep factor, I'm just not sure I'll be able to pull the horror genre off. I've been outlining and characterizing for the past week, and I'm really digging the idea. Only time will tell.

Looking forward to keeping up with everyone in May. Hope everyone has a kick-butt writerly / readerly month!!

  12. Well, this is daunting. You have quite a bit on your plate. I am just hoping to get my butt in my chair and do some writing for a change. It's been a long dry spell for me.

    1. Go with that butt kicking writing. I always find that spring is the big writing time for me as winter it drys up. Seasonal kind of writing I guess.

Good luck and I am totally cheering you on!

  13. Thanks for hosting this month!

This month is craziness. That's all I'll say! I'm scoring this whole month and it's been really hard to squeeze in any writing. I know. Excuses, excuses. I did schedule in writing time this week which includes today. I also got an early glimpse of the first cover for NO MORE GODDESSES. That's motivation!

I think the problem this month is not only son but I'm burned out from homeschooling. All the testing can do that to you. Sigh. Even though we homeschool, it's through a charter school. The state said our scores were too low and so the school has been more pushy on math/ELA. I'm not worried about ELA as son does really well on it. It's the math that has been a nightmare. Double sigh. The end is in sight though. Just another month and then a much needed break for all of us.

    Replies
    1. yes yes and yes on getting to see your cover!!

burnout could indeed be a factor and maybe you just need time to fill that well or find some quiet moments to still it down from all the math/ELA stuff. Yep, sounds like a craziness kind of month for you, so sending you quiet time vibes!

  14. Hi Deb!

The past few days have been filled with working on my synopsis, following a webinar on writing them. But one of the perks of the webinar was that the agent teaching it would offer a critique following that. CP and I, who both took the class, worked hard on our submissions, but yesterday, we both sent! Since CP's also provided me with more revision notes, I'm working on that. Goal? I'd like to finish these revisions before the month is out. :)

    1. Hi back! Good luck with those revisions and good luck with your critique. I like the sound of that webinar...me and synopsis's don't get along so well.

Here is to getting those revisions done, done and donner!
