  1. My ALL TIME favorite book is Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. It was one of the first fantasy/fairytale themed books I read as a kid. I still have the same copy i bought at a school book fair in elementary school. It's extremely beat-up and I've read it over 30 some times. It even has the stamp in it from the book fair proving that it was "purchased." I can't explain how much this book specifically (love the series overall) means to me.

  2. to end reading slumps I actually watch TV shows! I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes switching forms of media for entertainment makes me miss whatever it is I got burnt out on! For example, i hit a really bad reading slump recently and started watching my favorite show (Gilmore Girls) again. After a while though I began to miss reading and jumped back in! hope this tip helps you guys get out of your slumps!

  3. And i'm donating today! I actually picked up one of those cards from giving tree at the mall, where you choose a child's name and buy them one or more items for christmas off their wishlist. My local mall is doing it for the Children's Cancer Center of Milwaukee. The girl i picked asked for Monster High books and i just found the whole boxed series today and am dropping them off along with few other goodies I hope she'll like!

    1. Love those giving trees. We have one set up in our school's library for our own toy drive...it was a student's idea and I must say a great one. Nice on the Monster High books for the girl you picked!

      Happy Reading!

  4. Favorite all-time book is SO HARD!!! I really don't know. If I have to choose a book that I think I could probably re-read more than any other, I'd have to go with Harry Potter. Though I adore so many books! I've recently come to ADORE Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass Series. <3

Reading slumps are a tough one for me! I always get over one by reading one of my favorite authors. Whether it's a re-read or, if I'm super lucky, they just came out with something new! That's the only thing that can really help me.

Great mini challenge! Thanks so much and happy holidays!

  5. One of my all-time faves is MANDY by Julie (Andrews) Edwards. I still have the first edition I bought in 1971!
I volunteer and donated books to the Sojourner Family Peace Center, a women's shelter that services families.
Best tip for reading slump. If I'm really struggling, I line up a bunch of books and begin by reading 1 page. If I'm hooked at one page, then I keep reading and reading. If I'm really struggling, I go back to an old favorite and reread that book. It seems to help! Thanks for participating and donating for the Holiday #Readathon! You're awesome, Deb! xx, Liza

  6. Favorite book ever is so hard. If I had to choose just one it would be the Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. I will be donating to the Salvation Army.

As far as a reading slump, if I find I can't get into a book, I put it down and read something else. Then try again after I finish that book.

  7. Hi! Well I have so many favorite Books on my list, but Jane Eyre is #1.
Reading Slumps, mmm... I like to watch movies based on famous Books and that awakes my interest in reconnecting with reading!!

  8. One of my favorite books to read is Left Drowning by Jessica Park. I love it so much, but it breaks my heart and cry EVERY time I read it. It's full of pain and love and discovery and growth and acceptance.

I made a huge book donation yesterday to my local community assistance program for families in need and I will donate to local elder care facility in my town.

To get over a reading slump, I take a break. Sometimes it's needed to recharge. Then I will reread a book that makes me happy or try a new book by an author whose other books I've enjoyed. Revisiting the familiar can be a great kickstarter.

  9. My favorite books of all time are...
The reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell
    Looking for Alaska, John green
And Hawthorne and Heathclifff, RK Ryles.

When in a reading slump I try not to force it. Sometimes taking time off I'd all you need. I wait a few days and then grab a book I know I've been dying to read, or one by one of my go to authors and I'm back to normal.

And as for the donation unfortunately there is no way I can complete that task by the end of today, and no support groups that are open and local. BUT earlier this month a friend and I bought new blankets and gave them out to the homeless in the area.

  10. My fave books are:
    Alanna Quartet by Tamora Pierce
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

I am donating money to a local shelter for animals this week!

Reading slumps I usually drop whatever I'm stuck on and pick up something I know is a perfect book for me. Sometimes I pick up a graphic novel instead.
